From time to time we enjoy daydreaming about our own business, not knowing how we would make it or where it would be, but there’s one thing that is clear: it would be a café and a bookstore at a time. There’s something in the atmosphere that’s created in this kind of places that we love; conversations usually start around books and end up revolving around ideals and dreams. That is exactly what we felt in La Marabunta, a café and bookstore founded in 2010 as an associative project whose main objective was creating an open space for culture and critical thought. There’s a brave and very interesting selection of books, from philosophy to politics, economy, novels, essays, theatre and a small but meticulous section with illustrated books for both children and grown-ups. It is also a very active spot: they held interesting discussions on different subjects and it’s an open space for project presentations, sharing ideas or simply having a cup of coffee while having a look at the books in its comfy sofas. It is a great place to stop by before or after watching a good movie at Cine Doré (better known as “La Filmoteca”, Madrid’s film library), which is only a few steps away. We’d just recommend to take note of the address in advance and get a good map or you may get lost trying to get here!
